Privacy Policy

Sleepy Noises is an app for listening to the Sleepy Noises podcasts (sleep sounds and bedtime stories), made by Sleepy Noises LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
The short version:
- You don't need an account. Without one, we don't collect personal data, and what you do in the app stays on your phone.
- An account is optional. It keeps Premium and your library (likes, followed shows, history, stats, playlists) with you on every phone. It holds your email address, whether you have Premium and that library, and you can delete it in the app at any time.
What stays on your phone
The app keeps these on your device, so it works offline and remembers where you were:
- what you listened to and how far, what you liked, followed and downloaded;
- your listening stats (time listened, nights in a row, your queue), which you can clear in Settings;
- your recent searches;
- your answers to the first-launch sleep quiz and your settings (such as the sleep timer and bedtime reminder);
- how you last signed in (Apple, Google or email, never the address), so the sign-in page can point to it.
Without an account we never receive this information. With one, the first four are also kept in your account (below). Deleting the app deletes what's on the phone. On an iPhone, your own iCloud backup of the phone can include it (but not downloaded episodes): that backup is yours, and we can't see it.
If you create an account
You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a code or link sent to your email address. We then keep:
- your email address. With Sign in with Apple, this can be a private relay address from Apple;
- an account number that identifies your account;
- how you signed in (Apple, Google or email), and when;
- your name and profile picture link, if you sign in with Google and your Google account has them, because Google sends them along. The app doesn't use or show them;
- whether you have Premium, until when, and through which store;
- your library: the episodes you liked, the shows you follow, where you are in each episode and which ones you've played, your listening history behind the stats (which episode, when and for how long), your playlists and your quiz answers. Changes are saved to your account while you're signed in, including ones made earlier on the phone when you first sign in.
We use this only to sign you in, to give you Premium and your library on every phone you sign in on, and to answer you if you write to us. Your downloads, queue, recent searches and settings stay on your phone. Signing out leaves your library on the phone; if someone else then signs in on it, your library leaves the phone and theirs comes down.
Accounts are stored by Supabase in Frankfurt, Germany. Supabase keeps technical logs, such as the IP address and time of a sign-in, for a limited time to keep accounts secure.
Deleting your account. In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This deletes your account, your library and your Premium status from our server for good, and asks RevenueCat (below) to delete its record of your purchases. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases.
If you buy Premium in the app
Purchases go through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). We never see your payment details. To check purchases, renewals and refunds, the stores share them with RevenueCat, a service in the United States that manages subscriptions for us. RevenueCat keeps your account number and your purchase history, and tells our server whether you have Premium. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What the app downloads, and from where
To show and play episodes, the app connects to:
- GitHub Pages (run by GitHub, Inc.), for the list of shows and episode tags;
- Megaphone (run by Spotify), which hosts the podcast feeds, artwork and audio;
- Supporting Cast, only if you are a premium member and add your private feed links, which hosts the premium feeds and audio;
- Cloudflare, only with Premium bought in the app, which stores the ad-free recordings. Our server gives the app a link to each one that works for a day.
Like any web request, these services receive your device's IP address and basic technical details (such as the app version and device type) when the app downloads something. Megaphone may insert ads into episodes and measure ad delivery; for how it handles this information, see Megaphone's privacy policy and GitHub's privacy statement.
What we don't do
- No analytics, advertising identifiers or tracking across apps and websites.
- No selling or sharing of personal information.
- No access to your contacts, location, camera or microphone.
- No account needed to listen, download or use any free feature.
Premium links
If you add your private Supporting Cast feed links, they are kept in your phone's secure storage (the iOS Keychain or Android's encrypted storage). They are not part of any backup, and they are never shown, logged or sent anywhere except to Supporting Cast to download your premium shows. They are not stored in your account. Remove them any time in the Premium tab → Supporting Cast.
The keys that keep you signed in to your account are kept in the same secure storage. Deleting the app removes both: a new install starts signed out, with no premium links.
Notifications
If you turn on the bedtime reminder, the app asks your permission and then schedules a daily notification on your phone. It is not sent from a server, and no notification token or identifier leaves your device. Turn it off any time in Settings → Bedtime.
Sharing
When you share an episode or show, the app opens your phone's share sheet with a link. Nothing is sent until you choose an app to share with, and what happens next is up to that app.
Problem reports
If something doesn't work, Settings → Troubleshooting → Share a problem report opens your phone's share sheet with a text you can read before sending:
- the app version and your phone's system version;
- whether you're signed in and have Premium (yes or no);
- the recent error messages from the app on this phone.
It holds no email address, and every web address in it is cut down to the site's name. The app keeps these messages in memory only, never on disk, and nothing is sent unless you send it yourself.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information in your account, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the address below. You can delete your account yourself at any time in the app. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and some stories (such as Terrified) are meant for older listeners. Accounts are not meant for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them; if you think a child has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page before that version is released, and change the date at the top.
